January 14, 2025

Vince Staples has shared his perspective on the devastating impact of wildfires in the Los Angeles area, emphasizing the resilience of his community.

"Whole neighborhood burnt down but we still thuggin'," the rapper tweeted, reflecting on the destruction. He also revealed that he received a $1 million cash offer for his Los Angeles property following the fires, suggesting a potential motive behind the devastation. "White devil offered a M cash for the land he must've thought I was one of them other n***as," he wrote.

Staples also encouraged his followers to support relief efforts by sharing a link to the California Community Foundation, stating, "Long Beach is making a pledge to the California Community Foundation. Anything helps!"

The wildfires have caused widespread damage and displacement, with nearly 180,000 people under evacuation orders and at least 25 confirmed deaths, according to the Los Angeles Times. Several celebrities, including Paris Hilton, YouTubers Colin Rosenblum and Samur Chaudry, and "This Is Us" star Milo Ventimiglia, have reported damage to their homes.

Amidst the crisis, a resurfaced clip from Joe Budden's podcast featuring Vince Staples discussing the challenges of home insurance in California has gained renewed attention. In the clip, Staples highlights the increasing difficulty for homeowners to obtain insurance due to climate change and the rising cost of premiums, particularly in areas newly designated as high fire zones.
