Multidisciplinary Artist Unveils New Visual Work
Solange Knowles is back with a new short film titled "Shakersss.mov". This self-directed and self-starring visual piece will be showcased at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles from February 16th to May 4th as part of the "American Gurl: home—land" exhibition.
Clocking in at just over eight minutes, "Shakersss.mov" is described on the project's website as a "moving liturgy of praise expressed through reverence for self, God, and the exalted mother Yemaya, emphasizing our profound connection to water and its vital role in existence."
Solange also shared a personal message about the film's connection to water on the website:
“Hold on to the people, places, and things that make you feel seen, held, and safe! And hold on to yourself when the tide is low,” she penned.
“I made this lil film Shakersss for absolutely no reason other than a reminder to myself that light always reveals itself, and if you water the questions enough, answers will rise within you with unshakable faith.”
In addition to the museum exhibition, "Shakersss.mov" is also available to view on the project's website.
