Precious Okoyomon's solo exhibition, "ONE EITHER LOVES ONESELF OR KNOWS ONESELF," currently on view at Kunsthaus Bregenz, invites visitors to step into a world of lush dreamscapes. Known for their captivating blend of art, poetry, and performance, Okoyomon explores the interplay of play, chaos, and regeneration.

Following their acclaimed presentation at the 2022 Venice Biennale, where they transformed the Arsenale into a vibrant ecosystem, Okoyomon continues to push creative boundaries. At Kunsthaus Bregenz, the artist transforms the museum itself into an immersive experience, confronting intimate desires and fears with unflinching sincerity.

The exhibition features a series of captivating installations, including "in the belly of the sun endless" (2025), a colossal teddy bear seemingly abandoned on a plush pink carpet. Accompanied by trance-like sounds by Takiaya Reed, the bear's anxious gaze evokes a sense of "daydream and self-forgetfulness," inviting viewers to enter a state of reverie.

On the top floor, a serene glass-enclosed garden provides a moment of solace, nurturing the lives of pupating caterpillars and fluttering butterflies.

"skysong" (2025), a new film by Okoyomon, debuts alongside the exhibition. In the film, the artist pilots a plane over the Hudson River, reciting poetry to the surrounding sky. As the museum describes, "The images convey a feeling of boundlessness and freedom, characterized by a sense of an ego that views both things and life in the material world as a source of spiritual inspiration." However, the viewer is positioned behind a mesh barrier, creating a sense of separation and highlighting the limitations of perception.

"ONE EITHER LOVES ONESELF OR KNOWS ONESELF" is on view at Kunsthaus Bregenz until May 25, 2025.
