After nearly a year behind bars, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, better known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again (NBA YoungBoy), was released from federal prison on March 24, 2025. This early release marks a turning point in the rapper’s tumultuous legal journey, which has included multiple arrests, gun charges, and allegations of prescription fraud.

YoungBoy’s release came just one month ahead of his initially scheduled release date of April 26, 2025. The rapper had been serving a 23-month sentence for gun possession as a convicted felon, following an arrest in Baton Rouge in 2020. Now free, YoungBoy will remain under supervised release for five years, with strict conditions that include drug and alcohol screenings, mental health evaluations, and substance abuse counseling.

A Rocky Legal History

YoungBoy’s legal troubles began in 2020 when he was arrested in Baton Rouge on federal firearm and drug charges. His high-profile arrest made headlines after a dramatic pursuit involving the FBI in March 2021, when he was taken into custody in Los Angeles on a federal warrant.

While on house arrest in Utah in April 2024, YoungBoy was hit with additional charges, including possession of controlled substances, possession of a deadly weapon, and identity fraud. These charges stemmed from allegations that YoungBoy was part of a prescription drug fraud ring. In November 2024, he pleaded guilty to those charges, avoiding additional jail time but receiving a hefty $25,000 fine.

Life After Prison

As he walks free, the question on everyone’s mind is: what’s next for NBA YoungBoy? Known for his prolific music output, YoungBoy has consistently remained at the top of the charts, even while facing legal challenges. His loyal fan base stood by him throughout his incarceration, eagerly awaiting his return.

Although his immediate plans have not been publicly disclosed, speculation is already swirling about whether YoungBoy will drop new music, embark on a comeback tour, or focus on rebuilding his personal life.

The Conditions of Supervised Release

YoungBoy’s release is not without restrictions. For the next five years, he will be closely monitored and must adhere to the following conditions:

• Regular Drug and Alcohol Screenings: He will undergo mandatory tests to ensure he remains sober.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling: YoungBoy is required to complete evaluations and counseling sessions.

Travel Restrictions: Any travel plans must be approved by his parole officer.

Failure to meet these conditions could result in further legal consequences, putting YoungBoy back in jeopardy.

A New Chapter?

YoungBoy’s legal battles have overshadowed much of his career, but they haven’t diminished his influence in the rap world. With over a dozen chart-topping projects under his belt and a reputation for raw, emotional lyrics that connect deeply with his audience, he remains one of hip-hop’s most compelling figures.

As he steps back into the spotlight, YoungBoy faces an opportunity to rewrite his narrative. Whether he uses this moment to focus on his music, his family, or his personal growth, one thing is certain: NBA YoungBoy’s story is far from over.

For now, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see what this next chapter holds for the rapper who has always thrived on defying expectations.
