New Track Sets Tone for May 9th Album Release
Little Simz has announced her sixth album, "Lotus," and released the lead single, "Flood," featuring Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly.
"Lotus" signifies a period of renewal and growth for the acclaimed British rapper, known for her incisive lyrics and artistic fearlessness. The album title itself represents transformation, a central theme woven throughout the project.
"Flood," produced by Miles Clinton James, establishes the album's powerful tone with its driving drums and Little Simz's distinctive, raw vocal delivery. The track is further elevated by Obongjayar's haunting vocals and Moonchild Sanelly's electrifying presence, building upon the successful collaboration between Simz and Obongjayar on "Point and Kill."
The single is accompanied by a striking black-and-white music video, directed by Salomon Ligthelm. The cinematic visuals create a dreamlike atmosphere, featuring evocative imagery of prayer leaders, mysterious figures, and matadors against a backdrop of relentless rain, enhancing the song's intensity.
In addition to her album release, Little Simz will curate the 30th edition of the Southbank Centre’s Meltdown Festival, joining a prestigious list of past curators. The festival, running from June 12-22, will showcase a carefully selected lineup reflecting Simz's artistic vision.
"Lotus" is set to be released on May 9th.
