New Benchmark for 2020s Streaming
Kendrick Lamar's "GNX" album has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing Travis Scott's "UTOPIA" streaming record.
Despite being early in 2025, Lamar has already had a monumental year, following his successful 2024, which included a high-profile rap feud with Drake and the release of the hit diss track "Not Like Us." The song earned him five Grammy Awards and a subsequent performance at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.
Now, "GNX" has broken a major streaming record. According to the NFR Podcast, the album has become the fastest rap album of the 2020s to reach two billion streams, achieving this feat in just 96 days. This surpasses Travis Scott's "UTOPIA," which previously held the record, reaching the same milestone in 114 days after its July 2023 release.
Lamar's recent success extends beyond streaming numbers, with tracks like "Not Like Us," "Luther" (with SZA), "TV Off," and "Squabble Up" all landing in the top five positions on the Billboard Hot 100.
While Lamar has overtaken Travis Scott in streaming, Drake has reclaimed the No. 1 spot on Spotify's artist chart, with Kendrick Lamar following closely at No. 2. Both artists remain at the pinnacle of the music industry.
