Ghanaian streetwear brand Free the Youth has announced an African tour that will span across 12 countries, including Nigeria, South Africa, Gabon, Togo, Morocco, Côte D'ivoire, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Kenya, Senegal, Benin, and Ethiopia. According to the founders, this tour is going to be their biggest yet, serving as a way of “returning to their roots with purpose, energy, and a vision bigger than ever.” Following their collaboration with Nike’s Jordan Brand, FYT is bringing their creativity and collaborative spirit back home – a conscious effort that reflects their dedication to expanding their influence across global stages while remaining grounded to their roots. The upcoming tour is certainly one to anticipate, promising an exciting gathering of creatives across industries such as music, fashion, art, and sports—a true convergence of diverse talents from across Africa and a vibrant space where creatives can express themselves freely regardless of their age, identity, or gender.
Founded by Jonathan Coffie, Kelly Foli, Winfred Mensah, and Richard Ormano in 2013, FYT has evolved from a streetwear fashion brand into a cultural movement that continuously inspires and uplifts African creatives. The brand shows creatives that they don’t have to be boxed in — they can be multiple things at once — while also opening doors for others and putting Africa on the map. FYT has expanded beyond fashion and now also operates as an NGO dedicated to empowering and mentoring the next generation of creatives.
With plans to tour Africa and Asia, their annual Detty December show, and a new music project in the works, it is apparent that this year, FTY remains committed to reaching creatives around the world, spreading their brand’s vision, and creating enjoyable moments. Following previous tours in the UK and US, African creatives can expect an exceptional experience. The tour dates and venues have not been announced yet.
