Critically acclaimed fashion stylist Law Roach has been announced as one of the judges for the 21st season of the popular fashion competition Project Runway. The competition will be hosted by Heidi Klum, who will also act as a co-judge alongside Roach, Nina Garcia, and Christian Siriano. Roach, who appeared on the show in season 20 as a guest judge, will be making his debut as an official Project Runway judge.
Known for styling celebrities like Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Celine Dion, Tom Holland, and others, he will be bringing his expertise and experience to the show, which is famed for grooming the next generation of outstanding fashion designers. With Roach joining the judges, viewers can expect a fresh perspective on styling and fashion design.
While announcing this season’s judges and host, Freeform – the show’s official production house – stated that this year’s 10-episode season chose to invite Roach as a judge because of his reputation for transforming celebrities into fashion icons. Additionally, Roach’s many accomplishments, such as being named the Most Powerful Stylist by The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 and 2022, being acknowledged as one of TIME 100’s Most Influential People, and releasing the book “How To Build A Fashion Icon – Notes on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect,” make him the perfect judge for the competition. In the announcement video shared on Instagram, Roach positioned himself as the judge who loves drama when he reiterated the fashion competition’s reputation for being filled with drama.
As a confirmed judge on the Emmy-winning show, it appears Roach isn’t slowing down, despite announcing his partial retirement last year. This announcement caused a ruckus in the fashion world, but in an interview with Vogue, he clarified that he was retiring from a specific part of fashion and not stepping back entirely. With his anticipated appearance on Project Runway season 21, Roach is still elevating fashion and giving aspiring designers the tools to excel. Interested viewers can watch the show this summer when it premieres on Freeform, Disney+, and Hulu.
