Drake has just released the third installment of his Scary Hours series, titled For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition.
This surprise project was announced by Drake himself in a two-minute teaser, where he shared that the entire album was created in just five days. In the visual, he expressed, “Ultimately, it’s coming to me in a way that I haven’t experienced maybe since like If You’re Reading This where it’s kinda just like, I feel like I’m on drugs. I feel like I’m in that mental state without doing anything. I did those songs in the last five days. I didn’t have one bar written down for those songs on the night that For All the Dogs dropped. That’s not picking up from some unfinished shit, you know. It’s happening on its own, and who am I to fight it, right? And to fight back against the right thing would be, well, you know.”
Scary Hours 3 is an extensive project comprising a total of 29 tracks, nearly spanning two hours. This includes the original tracks from For All the Dogs and introduces six brand-new tracks, featuring a second collaboration with J. Cole on “Evil Ways.” Executive producers for the EP include OVO’s Noel Cadastre, NBA star Kevin Durant, and Drake himself.
Despite Drake's earlier announcement in October about taking a hiatus from new music due to health issues, the release of Scary Hours 3 has surprised fans. Drake had mentioned, “I’ve been having the craziest problems with my stomach for years. I need to get right, I have a lot of other things I would love to focus on so I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit. I don’t know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or something. Maybe a little bit longer.” It remains to be seen if he will indeed take a break after this latest project.
