Diddy is making a big comeback by not only releasing his first solo album in 17 years but also performing at this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). He's set to accept the 2023 Global Icon Award and will grace the stage for the first time since 2005. This return to the spotlight is an exciting moment for fans of the legendary artist, and it adds to the anticipation for his upcoming album, "The Love Album: Off the Grid.”
The VMAs shared a post on Instagram to announce the news.
The rapper has been named the third U.S. Global Icon by MTV, joining previous award-winners Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The network adapted the award from its Europe Music Awards (EMAs). Diddy will perform alongside Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, Stray Kids, and Karol G. at this year's event. The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from New Jersey's Prudential Center on Tuesday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Diddy's album, The Love Album: Off the Grid, will hit streaming platforms the following Friday, September 15.
