The one-year period enabled by the Adult Survivors Act, signed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul in May 2022, has concluded this month.
The "one-year lookback window" stipulated by the Adult Survivors Act began six months after its signing, and it applied irrespective of when the alleged abuse occurred. According to New York Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal, during this period, courthouse doors were "flung open so you can confront your abusers and seek the justice that was too long denied you."
