THE FOUNDER

Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike, is a legendary figure in the business world. His entrepreneurial journey and strategic thinking have transformed Nike into a global sports apparel powerhouse. Born in Portland, Oregon, in 1933, Knight developed a passion for running at a young age. He attended the University of Oregon, where he was a member of the track team. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army before pursuing a graduate degree in business administration at Stanford University. While at Stanford, Knight met Bill Bowerman, his former track coach, who had a vision for creating a better running shoe. Together, they founded Blue Ribbon Sports in 1964, which later became Nike.
