Clipse Reveals New Look at the Collaborative Sneaker
Pharrell Williams' latest collaboration with adidas, the ultra-sized Superstar 92, is set for a global release this weekend, March 1st.
This release follows a pre-launch earlier in February and a Paris Fashion Week reveal last year. The Superstar 92, also known as the "Double Wide," features an exaggerated silhouette inspired by 90s skate sneakers and ski boots, boasting ample cushioning.
The shoe is available in two colorways: "Core White/Cream White/Core Black" (JI4268) and "Core Black/Sky Rush/Cream White" (JI4267). Both iterations include a "Virginia" callout on the tongue, connecting the campaign to Pharrell's home state.
Clipse, captured wearing the shoes in Virginia Beach, further emphasizes this connection.
The global launch follows an earlier pre-launch exclusive via A Ma Maniére Atlanta. The shoes will be available at adidas and select retailers, with a retail price of $200 USD.
Pharrell initially teased the Superstar 92 in April alongside BLACKPINK’s Rosé and later provided hints via his @skateboard Instagram account.
The Superstar 92 is part of a trio of Superstar designs, including the 72 and 82 models, which were also showcased at Paris Fashion Week. The 72 model draws inspiration from 70s athletic styles, while the 82 model presents a more refined 80s aesthetic.
Pharrell explained the inspiration behind the collection, stating, "We created three Superstars for a reason. We’ve moved beyond the impossible task of creating one thing for everyone. Instead, we pulled inspiration from the decades to offer three unique designs."
