Boston Celtics guard/forward Jaylen Brown has secured a massive payday with a five-year, $304 million USD supermax contract extension. This deal, reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic, is the richest in NBA history, surpassing Nikola Jokić's five-year, $276 million USD contract with the Denver Nuggets.
Brown, who was drafted 3rd overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, has shown steady improvement in his game over the years. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team and eventually became an All-Star in 2021. In the recent 2022-2023 season, he had a career-best performance, averaging 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, earning him a spot on the All-NBA Second Team. Despite the Celtics falling short in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat, Brown's extension ensures he will be a key part of the team's future alongside Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis, who was recently acquired by the Celtics.
