...I’m doing good, Blessed to be here.
If you had to draw a tattoo right now, what would it be, where, and why?
… I dont have one in mind rn.
Do you read? What are you reading right now?
… yes, I do. If I have an interest in a particular thing, I mostly find myself doing research, reading on it.
What are you listening to at the moment? Anything new, old, or exciting?
Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Larry June, Nipsey Hussle,and Gunna.
Let’s talk about your background for a bit. Where are you from?
I am Delta/ Yoruba born & raised in Lagos, Nigeria.
Did you grow up in a creative/artistic household?
Not at all. I had to carve out my own path.
Do you have a spiritual upbringing and do you think it affected how you see the world today?
I am a Christian & was taught to have faith in myself & keep trust in God despite what's going on in the world.
What is your earliest memory of you being creative? and how did it make you feel?
Painting & Drawing on the house walls as a kid. There was always something new on the wall every time my parents got back from work.
How did the name “Soul G” come about? What’s the story?
Came from my Big Brother, he is who I got my name & style from. He inspired a lot of what you see today.
How has your style evolved over the years, and what key elements define it today?
… nowadays I’ll say it's more subtle, I don't really be experimenting with my style anymore, I wear what feels most comfortable to me, which also depends on the occasion. Most times I keep it simple.
You are popularly known as an art director and designer at Severe Nature. How will you describe the work you do creatively?
I'll say ... bringing my ideas to the team & making sure they are executed best way i can
When you start a new project, do you usually come in with any ideas or thoughts, or is it usually a blank slate?
There are always new ideas but I mostly create a theme for the collection & work around the idea.
Who was your favorite designer growing up? What will a Soul G and (Designer’s name) project look like? (style, concept, etc.)
I grew up wearing a lot of Gunit, Rocawear, and Supreme pieces mostly, but then I got into Raf Simmons, Margiela, and a bit more high fashion.
What will you say is your most fulfilling work as a creative?
Building a community for people to express their creative ideas, seeing ideas come to life, and being able to express things the way you see them.
Do you think it is possible to judge art objectively?
Yeah, you can say that. This depends on if the art has a clear message or meaning.
What favorite items do you own?
Very rare Rafs
What’s the one thing you can't travel without?
Headphones, always need some music.
What is your metaphor for life?
Walk by faith.
