Envisioned by Jonathan Coffie, Kelly Foli, Winfred Mensah, and Richard Kweku Ormano and FREE THE YOUTH is a collective of young creatives determined to empower Ghanaian and all African youth to connect to art scenes around the world with Ghanaian inspired street-style fashion and culture. The initial goal was to showcase Ghanaian street-style via social media. FREE THE YOUTH has now developed into a multi-branched company; the Fashion Brand, the Creative Agency and the NGO. All of these components are working towards the grand goal of promoting an art-based, youth-oriented movement for creative freedom and community development.
Founded in 2013 by Jonathan Coffie (Joey Lit), Kelly Foli, Shace Winifred Mensah, and Richard Ormano, Free The Youth is a Ghanaian streetwear brand born from a shared passion for style, fashion, art, and the digital world. The quartet met on the streets of Ghana, united by their love for creativity and self-expression. Together, co-founders Jonathan "Joey Lit" Coffie, Richard "Kweku Maposh" Ormano, and Kelly "Kurlz" Sekfafor Foli (along with the late Winfred "Shace" Mensah) have demonstrated that creativity can be a powerful tool for not only living life but also building a meaningful career. Free The Youth aims to inspire the next generation, and they're achieving this goal through their innovative and empowering fashion designs.
