The NBA remains silent regarding the potential sanctions for Ja Morant, with the league's decision expected after the conclusion of the NBA Finals on June 18.

Commissioner Adam Silver explained the rationale behind the delay, stating, "We made the decision — and I believe the players' association agrees with us — that it would be unfair to these players and these teams, in the middle of this series, to announce the results of that investigation."

Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies guard, previously served an eight-game suspension in March for sharing a video on Instagram Live displaying a gun at a Denver nightclub. This suspension resulted in a salary loss of $669,000 USD.

In a subsequent video posted last month, Morant was seen once again displaying a gun in his car. The NBA initiated its third investigation into Morant following this incident and has now gathered additional information.

Commissioner Silver emphasized that when determining the appropriate discipline, if warranted, they consider both the player's history and the seriousness of the conduct. He added, "It's not an exact science. It comes down to judgment at the end of the day on the part of me and my colleagues in the league office."
