The MLS is making headlines this June with the buzz around Lionel Messi joining Inter Miami and the teams battling for playoff spots. Amidst the excitement, the league has launched its Juneteenth initiative called "The Seeds We Plant. The Flowers We Share."

In collaboration with Black Players For Change, artist Gianni Lee, and photographer Mel D. Cole, a collection of 29 unique jerseys has been created and put up for auction. Each jersey is signed by a player from one of the league's 29 clubs and features artwork by Gianni Lee on the back and sleeve. The artwork incorporates Lee's "blue hand" motif, symbolizing the unity of African culture in the diaspora and its flourishing presence in American society. The proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting organizations that uplift and empower Black communities in MLS markets.

The MLS' Juneteenth charity auction, under the theme "The Seeds We Plant. The Flowers We Share," is already underway on MLSAuctions and will conclude on June 28. Additionally, patches and numbers related to the initiative are available for purchase on the Black Players For Change website, allowing fans to show their support beyond the auction.
