The highly anticipated joint album from Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign has been delayed due to issues with finding a distributor.
An eagerly anticipated collaborative album between Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign appears to have faced delays, with the artists currently on the hunt for a distribution partner, according to sources cited by Billboard.
Reportedly, five different options are under consideration, with Kanye West expected to make a final decision shortly. The album, initially set for release on Friday, October 13, is now projected to launch in the upcoming weeks. However, no official or exact release date has been confirmed.
While the music is purportedly some of West's finest work in the past five years, industry insiders have reportedly declined distribution due to the artist's controversial comments, which have been perceived as antisemitic. Although the album's lyrics themselves aren't considered controversial, many have opted for a cautious approach, given the heightened tensions between Israel and Hamas.
In 2022, Universal Music Group announced the conclusion of its partnership with Def Jam and Kanye West, as well as the termination of Def Jam's partnership with West's GOOD Music label. This move came after West released ten albums under the label. A representative from Universal Music Group stated, "Def Jam’s relationship with Ye as a recording artist, Def Jam’s partnership with the GOOD Music label venture, and Ye’s merchandise agreement with Bravado all ended in 2021."
For further updates on the album, stay tuned.
